Enhancing Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Primary Health Care Initiative

Snapshots, June 2005

The Steering Committee of the Enhancing Interdisciplinary Collaboration in Primary Health Care (EICP) Initiative is midway through its mandate and continues to be focused on the development of its key deliverables -- a set of principles and a framework for interdisciplinary collaboration.  At this stage, the committee has developed a draft version of the EICP Principles and Framework (sometimes called the Second Approximation) based on extensive pan-Canadian consultations, input from leaders engaged in primary health care, and targeted research.

The principles and framework provide a vision for how the primary health care system should develop, and provide direction to stakeholders regarding what elements are needed to support such a system.  While this draft version of the EICP Principles and Framework is not yet final, it continues to inspire important information-sharing and dialogue within the health community.  Comments from all interested parties are welcome.
